The 180Y


Owner :  Will.   Specs:

-Car: 1978 Datsun 120Y (B210 series) 2 door saloon. Rebuilt shell with new wings, doors, etc.  Filled in badge holes. Paint: Dark silver, satin black window frame & pillar.
-Rear lights. Home made from items found in Sainsbury's supermarket
-side repeaters on wings are from 180B
-Rims. refurbished 6 x 14" Appliance alloys, circa 1976 with 175x60r14 rubber
-Engine & gearbox 1984 Silvia 1.8 turbo (CA18ET) with Silvia fluid-filled mounts, fuel piping (under car), coil, harness, airflowmeter, ECU etc. Modified actuator to get 14psi boost, piston dump valve,  no intercooler.
-Silvia radiator with Cherry fan switch installed by radiator specialist
-modified crossmember to go behind of sump instead of original 120Y infront of sump design
-custom one-piece propshaft made from 280ZX front and 180B rear.
-modified front panel to take larger rad
-modified transmission tunnel, gearstick hole is further back than standard.
-Electric fan and cowling from Silvia 2 litre.
-Battery relocated to boot area for better weight distribution and more room for rad
-Exhaust. 2.25 inch stainless powerflow system with 2 silencers. Deep but quiet.
-Fuel pump '84 300ZX, installed into original 120Y fuel tank.
-Standard rear axle with 3.7:1 diff from 1981 Sunny installed.
-Clutch master cylinder (standard 120Y has cable clutch) Datsun 180B 810
-K&N cone airfilter
-Shortened Silvia gearlever modified to accept 120Y gearknob.
-Strut brace home made
-Front struts, and brakes from Datsun 280ZX. 2 1/4 inch coil conversion, adjustable platforms.
-Front antiroll bar upgraded from standard 18mm to 22mm from 180B 810 (reshaped) w/custom clamps
-Urethene Tie rod and antiroll bar bushes
-Incresed camber and caster by slotting the strut tower holes, and grinding the edges of the top mount.
-Rear springs de-cambered (lowered) 3 inches by spring specialist
-Tokico rear shocks from Datsun Cherry N10
-Brake proportioning valve removed.
-Momo steering wheel with 120Y boss. Nismo horn push
-Rev counter from 120Y coupe
-Late Silvia S12 seats.
-Neo MP3 player with 10 Gig hard drive, Boschmann 900W amp, pair of Sony 3-ways in front doors, 12" sub and box in boot.
-Modified Alpine head unit (head unit? who am i kidding, it's a 1970's wireless!) with RCA ins & outs added.
-Digital clock, changed to blue display, from Nissan Silvia S12, installed in glovebox lid.
-0-60 around 6 secs at the moment. Top speed, no bleedin' idea, the speedo markings only go up to 100mph!


Future plans. I have just bought an intercooler from a Skyline GTR which i will install infront of the rad, and i need to fit the silvia rear seats so they match the front.
